About Robyn Bragg
Robyn (she/her) is a mixed-media encaustic artist with a background in fine arts, design and psychology. She holds a BA in psychology from the University of Guelph and a BFA from the Cleveland Institute of Art. After a 20-year career as a graphic designer and user experience consultant she is now a full-time artist. She is a member of 44.4 Mother/Artist Collective, and her work has been exhibited in Canada, the US and Finland.
Robyn’s work combines collage with encaustics and is rooted in her psychology background. Her work deals with the challenge of anxiety, which seeks protection from uncertainty and chaos within the certainty of order. She explores the shelter afforded by the ordered systems of architecture, grids, and patterns. She asks: when does enclosing oneself in safety become a prison, where one is afraid to break out and take risks? Can one step out of rigidity to be more free?
Robyn is an experienced teacher and workshop leader and has taught and presented at Algonquin College, The Ottawa School of Art, the Ottawa Art Gallery, and various schools and community organizations.
