About Karen Bright
Exhibiting since 1981, Karen’s (she/her) work has won numerous exhibition awards and project grants from a wide variety of organizations including: Urban Coast Institute, International Encaustic Artists, and Monmouth University. Artist-in-residency appointments include: Weir Farm National Historic Site, Petrified Forest National Park, and Hot Springs National Park.
Karen holds the title of Professor Emeritus, having recently retired from Monmouth University after a 39 year teaching career in academia. Courses taught include: all levels and types of graphic/interactive design and traditional printmaking. Professor Bright owns Studio Bright in Newtown Square, Pennsylvania. Recent encaustic workshops and demos include: Shaping Space, 3 days of sculptural encaustic; and Off-Cradle, working with alternative substrates (paper, plaster with fresco, and three-dimensional form), at Truro Center for the Arts at Castle Hill.
Academic degrees include an MFA from Cranbrook Academy of Art, Bloomfield Hills, Michigan and a BFA with honors, from the University of the Arts, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Post-Conference Workshop
