About Dusti Gomery
Born and raised in the heart of farm country, Dusti Gomery (she/her) grew up surrounded by wide-open skies and rolling fields, immersed in the natural cycles of life. From an early age, she witnessed the birth, life and death of people, animals, and even places; experiences that gradually shaped her understanding of time and memory.
Gomery’s work is rooted in an ongoing reflection on aging and change, and in an interest in how memory is formed, altered, and reshaped through lived experience. She understands memory not as something fixed or absolute, but fluid, continually influenced by perception, emotion, and time. Through her work, she considers what we choose to hold onto, what fades, and how meaning shifts as time passes. Her work encourages a pause to consider personal histories, shared experiences, and the value and beauty of those things even as our memory of them changes.
Gomery’s art education follows the lineage of traditional apprenticeship. Rather than pursuing formal schooling, she has spent years studying directly under Master Artists. This has reinforced a commitment to sustained inquiry, reflection, and honesty in her work. Drawing from her own experiences while recognizing their broader human resonance, Gomery creates work that is reflective, quietly unsettling, and grounded in the belief that our experiences, and how we remember them, are among the most meaningful things we carry.
