About Cat Crotchett

Cat Crotchett (she/her) has been a professional artist for more than 30 years. Cat Crotchett’s encaustic paintings use patterns to vividly represent human emotions and experience, and to convey both beauty and tension. Cat earned BFAs in Painting and Art History from the University of Illinois, and an MFA in Art from Bowling Green State University in Ohio.

She has an extensive exhibition record that includes solo exhibitions at Vanderbilt University, the University of Illinois Chicago, the Maryland Institute of Art and Barbaran Segaragunung Gallery in Yogyakarta, Java, Indonesia. In addition, she has a considerable record of international and national group exhibitions, artist fellowships, and has been recognized through various grants and awards. She received the 2021 Western Michigan University Distinguished Faculty Scholar Award, and the 2015 College of Fine Arts Roehrick Distinguished Professor Award. Cat teaches painting in the Frostic School of Art and is represented by Addington Gallery in Chicago.
