About Session

This demonstration explores the fluidity, luminosity, and variety of effects that emerge when fluid media are applied to encaustic wax. Shary will demonstrate the exciting possibilities using alcohol inks, India inks, watercolour, aqua-dispersion, water-soluble wax paints, and other fluid materials on encaustic, revealing a range of outcomes from intricate cell formations, to vibrantly layered transparencies, to striking crackle patterns.

Participants will gain insight into how heat, timing, and surface influence movement and mark-making, and how to work with the inherent and mesmerising unpredictability of fluid media on encaustic. The demo emphasizes experimentation and experience, intuitive decision-making, and helpful tips and tricks.
