About Session

When I work with encaustic, I tend to work additively, applying my layers freely and loosely. Then I use a heat gun to mix my colours and create flow, tipping and turning my panels at the same time. As much as possible, I prefer to let the encaustic paint itself because, in the end, I get results that I could never have painted myself. I wish to demo this “dance between maintaining and losing control” while painting a landscape. Using this same approach, I also wish to demo a painting on copper where I let the metal act as a ground and a source of light in the final work.
