About Session

I will uncover the mystery of creating large encaustic monotypes — 44 x 48, 32 x 66, and beyond — exploring the value, benefits, challenges, and choices involved in working big. I will discuss unique approaches, from concept to the technical processes and methods of working at a larger scale, including creating diptychs and triptychs that extend beyond 100 inches wide and 68 inches high.

I will also address the process of creating a series of large works, from concept to framing and marketing, as this can feel daunting and often shuts artists down. I will demonstrate these ideas through discussion of several of my large works, including some award-winning pieces, sharing how I got there, the vision behind them, and the process involved.

Finally, I will discuss the importance of light, colour, and movement in directing the processes I use in my work, and how these elements translate in a powerful and beneficial way to larger pieces and groupings of large images.
