About Session

This presentation and demonstration will provide an overview and research of encaustic art, focusing on the process of making encaustic medium. I will explain how to combine beeswax, damar resin, and pigments to create the coloured wax used in encaustic painting. I will also show the different material that can be used to make the medium. The demo will include heating and mixing the materials safely to achieve the right consistency for painting. Attendees will see how the medium is prepared for use and how it can be applied to surfaces. The goal is to give a clear, practical introduction to making encaustic medium as the foundation for working with this unique and versatile art form.
